attitude of gratitude.

So...about that writing challenge that I totally kept up with...

I'm not great at blogging. I love doing it, but I rarely have the time. In fact, the only reason I'm writing this now - at 11:03pm on a Sunday - is because my boyfriend is snoring away and I get to sneak in some work. I try to maintain a work-life-balance by editing during "work hours", which is generally whenever I can between 10am-6pm Monday-Friday, if I'm not out shooting something.

This month has been beautifully busy. I've wrapped up all October's weddings and sessions, photographed two weddings and several photoshoots, started an etsy store (there is one little listing on there so I'll give more info when its ready), booked two's been AWESOME. Exhausting, but so great.

And seeing as this Thursday is Thanksgiving (and knowing I have another busy week ahead), I wanted to make a little post tonight about some of the things I am thankful for.

This year has been my first FULL work-year in Texas. I did quite a bit in 2015, but really hit the ground running in 2016, and am still so stunned by how blessed I've been to have such faithful, wonderful clients. By the time I wrap up this year, I'll have done 15 weddings. That's more than I've ever done in one year...and I am filled to the brim with gratitude.

I also had the honor of rebooting the boudoir portion of my business, and have been thrilled about that. I am hosting my Dallas event this upcoming weekend, and can't wait to rebuild that section of my website. I have no idea what that will be (on here, since I am very protective over my clients and their privacy), but it's great to be back in boudoir. The sessions are so empowering and energetic and I end each session wanting to celebrate life.

Now, on top of work stuff, I am also a human being (whaaaat?) who is thankful for many other things.

Before I start that full-out list, I have to give a photo-shout-out to the snoring man next to me. He built me a backdrop when I expressed interest in formal portraiture. He draws me bubble baths - with candles - when I come home from long wedding days. He encourages me every single day to live my dreams and to make them realities and I could not ask for a better man. And, come on, he poses for photos when I need test shots. He's simply the best.

Other things I'm grateful for? I could go on forever, but let's make a little list here:

  • The friends back home (and not-back-home-but-not-in-Dallas) who know the miles never matter.
  • The friends I've made here - both in and out of this industry - who love and support me, loudly.
  • The clients who have become friends and family.
  • My parents, who are ridiculous and hilarious and wonderful.
  • Emporium Pie's Smooth Operator, Starbucks' Chestnut Praline Latte (at kid's temp), Mi Cocina's Brisket Tacos...
  • The ability to burn pumpkin scented candles year-round.
  • Matt's lactose intolerance, because we can't share a pizza and that's probably for the best.

My life is filled with blessings - little ones and big ones alike.

What are you thankful for? I'd wholeheartedly love to hear what attitude of gratitude you're rocking today (and this week, and always).
